Lifeline Systems Named to Forbes 200 Best Small Companies List

Study is Based on 5-year and Trailing 12-Month Growth in Sales, Earnings and Return on Equity
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - October 26, 2005 - Lifeline Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: LIFE), the leading provider of personal response services in the United States and Canada, today announced that it has been selected for the fourth consecutive year by Forbes magazine as one of Forbes' 200 Best Small Companies.
In its October 31, 2005 issue, Forbes ranked Lifeline Systems 153 among the 200 companies. To qualify, candidates had to demonstrate a consistent pattern of positive growth in sales, earnings and return on equity during both a five-year period and the past 12 months. Companies were required to have revenue between $5 million and $750 million, net profit margins exceeding 5 percent, and a share price above $5 as of September 29, 2005. Financial institutions, utilities and REITS are excluded.
