Acquisition Expands Lifeline's Position in Senior Living Market
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - November 1, 2005 - Lifeline Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: LIFE),
the leading provider of personal response services in the United States and Canada,
today announced it has acquired in a cash transaction substantially all the assets
of privately held Care Technologies, Inc., of Roswell, Georgia. Care Technologies
is a leading supplier of wireless emergency call systems for senior living communities,
primarily in the southeastern region of the United States.
"Care Technologies represents a good strategic fit with Lifeline's growing senior
living business," said Ron Feinstein, president and chief executive officer of
Lifeline. "In addition to providing high-quality products and services, Care Technologies
has developed a strong, customer-oriented reputation in the market the company

Lifeline's Senior Living Division provides emergency call systems, integrated
resident safety management, and flexible staff communication equipment to approximately
1,500 assisted and independent living facilities, as well as continuing care retirement
communities, with a total of more than 120,000 residents. Many national senior
living companies, including Sunrise, Atria, Brookdale, and Emeritus, have selected
Lifeline to provide resident safety systems for many of their sites.

will not have a material impact on Lifeline's business in 2005, we expect that
it will be accretive before the end of 2006."
