05/04/2005

ERS Windows 2.0 and Resident Care 4.0 Offers New Life Safety Integration Components

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.- Wednesday, May 4, 2005 - Lifeline Systems (NASDAQ: LIFE), the leading provider of personal response services and emergency call systems in the United States and Canada, today announced new, enhanced software for Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities across North America.

The products, ERS Windows 2.0 and Resident Care 4.0, feature new life safety integration components which provide community staff with more information at their fingertips, expanded communications capability, greater reporting and tracking capabilities and additional back-up systems that enhance resident safety and staff productivity.

The improved software is fully integrated with the popular Spectralink Corp. Wireless Telephone System, used by many of the largest residential communities. Spectralink integration enables easy staff-to-staff and resident communication. When a resident calls for help, the resident's name and location is displayed on the handset. With a simple push of a button the staff member is in direct voice communication with the resident, offering comfort and assessing their needs.

ERS Windows 2.0 supports larger senior living communities with multiple monitoring stations or monitoring stations which change between day and night shifts. The network enabled ERS Windows 2.0 uses a shared database which works on any community network-connected PC. Each network-connected station has the full ERS Windows life safety monitoring and reporting capability, providing staff with easy access to resident information anywhere in the community.

The new Lifeline E-Call systems also includes integration with the WatchMate Wander Prevention System, which helps prevent residents from leaving a facility undetected and becoming lost or injured. Residents wear a small bracelet that signals door monitors. If a resident opens a door that should not be opened, the resident's name and location is sent to a pager or telephone that is part of the Lifeline E-Call system, enabling staff to respond. ERS Windows 2.0 and Resident Care 4.0 assure residents are always protected. System issues are immediately reported to staff Spectralink phones or pagers enabling quick system restoration and preventing loss of help calls.
